Say What

Hey hey,

My run went surprisingly well. I don’t know if I was really just that into my show or my body is remembering this whole running thing. Each time I ran it felt easy and I always questioned that I was done already. It was really nice to feel that easy running come back. However, next week my run time increases so we’ll see how I’m feeling then. I was still smart and didn’t increase my running time today or my speed. My goal is to focus on endurance first and then work on speed. I may not be super fast (not that I ever will be) but at least I won’t be hurting myself. Plus yesterday I managed to hit my step goal (it isn’t that high since giving birth) without having to run. I felt pretty accomplished.

My lifts today were abs, chest, and shoulders. I ended up rushing my last few shoulder exercises because I thought my boy was starting to wake up. Turns out he wasn’t but it is better safe than sorry. For abs my plan had me doing lying leg lifts and bicycles. It also wanted me to go side planks, but I really wasn’t feeling them. The lying leg lifts I could feel working and thought I wouldn’t push it. For my chest and shoulders I did incline bench press, incline flyes, triceps push down, Arnold dumbbell press, seated side lateral raise, and front dumbbell raise. I used all light weight, which made me feel like I was going way backwards compared to what I used to do. I know it is better that way to slowly ease my way back into it but still. My body is all sorts of different since giving birth and it is like I am relearning things about it. I’m also just learning new things about it.

Saturday Shenanigans

fitness, goals, hubby, lifting

So I honestly made that title just to use the word shenanigans. Only reason, plus it sounds cool. Anyways is Saturday! It’s a gorgeous day outside, and I have the pleasure of being in the car for most of it. Woohoo! Can you sense my sarcasm?

Today was leg day… It was great joyous fun and I loved every minute of it. Ha not really but it wasn’t that terrible either. Tomorrow I might be saying something else when I can’t walk though. The plan had about 5 different exercises with four sets each, and the last two sets were drop sets. I don’t know about yall, but that’s sucks. By the time I got to the end I had no strength left, which is the point but still. The first two sets had ten reps each,  and the last two had ten reps with the drop set being twenty. It was crazy but it felt good at the same time. My workout pants helped me to keep going with those last few reps. They are bright and colorful, so I  figured I better keep at it that way I will feel comfortable in them (one of these days).

Today’s run was a little strange because I split it up. I was not sure how much my body could handle being back,  and I would rather not hurt myself worse.  So before my workout I ran fifteen minutes and after I ran ten. I do believe I can handle my thirty at once again. Along with that going back on the nature trail. My husband wanted me to only go fifteen because he was worried about me hurting myself, sense I have a tendency to push it to hard to fast (I’m learning…slowly). In my head I could run that ten minutes after because I felt good. However, considering I ran before I lifted and then I lifted for half an hour (leg day never takes me very long) after that, I did not run those last ten minutes great. It may also have to do with the fact I only had breakfast, so my body was trying to figure out where to get energy. Although I generally workout before breakfast, but I don’t generally run that early for that long  (I enjoy coffee to much). Sometimes I’ll just run a quick ten minutes early in the morning. But I did run the first ten minutes faster than I normally do, which may have something to do with it as well.

Today we are going to visit our friend who moved an hour away from us, which is rude. I am just kidding, it made sense for them to move there. My husband and I are finally able to go see their new place. Along with that we are taking them to his parents’ house for a fish fry. I realize fried fish is not healthy, but I figured it’s once maybe twice a year. Plus it’s family thing, which is most important. Should be a fun Saturday full of shenanigans (yeah… I just wanted to use that word again). Have a great rest of the weekend y’all!

New Years Resolution… A Little Late

fitness, goals, lifting, training

Hey yall!

I’m sure yall thought you would never hear from me again. Sorry about the 2 months that I have not posted. But you know when you graduate with your bachelor’s and your new hubby graduates life gets busy for blogging. Plus I got married on New Years Eve and started my masters full time this year. You know between all of that my life became a little hectic for blogging and being consistent for fitness. I did run some over the two months, but not like I usually do.

Hey I’m back at it now. Last night my new hubby and I joined a gym that is close to us and relatively not expensive. It is a really nice gym though that gives us everything we need to get a great workout in. I dedicded to start over my Jaime Easton Livfit program, since I never finished it the first time. Today was chest and triceps, needless to say my arms are jello. My hubby also did arms and I’m super proud of him. He has tried in the past to get healthy but generally got hurt. However, a few hours after our workout he started talking about how his pinched nerve started acting up.

My breakfast of coffee and a protein shake

I decided a few weeks ago that I wanted to do the 15k/50k challenge that Bass Pro holds. So I’ve started a new running program. Today was supposed to be an easy 20 minutes but I pushed it a bit more than easy. I have to learn to actually go easy on easy run days so I don’t burn myself out. I’ll learn one of these days and be better about easy runs. But im really excited for this new journey.

Consistency is Key

fitness, goals, lifting, training

Hey yall,

So today was leg day. Yay! I’m so just kidding. I also used my new garmin vivoactive for the first time. I didn’t completely use it correctly because it took me a little bit to realize how to actually start the thing. I ran for over a little half an hour and felt alright about it. I’m not sure what got over me but I didn’t feel like it was a decent run. At one point I became positive it was just my mind getting to me. But I’ve been consistent all week with working out this week. The last few weeks have been crazy so it really messed with my schedule.

Leg day, oh leg day. It went really well. I’ll be not walking tomorrow but that’s OK. A girl saw me start in on lunges and was like hey you wanna walk lunges around the track with me. She didn’t want to do it by herself. I could tell she was a straight up jock. Don’t get me wrong, I know a lot of jocks and they are amazing people. However, some are crazy shallow and focused on themselves. It was interesting to workout with someone.

Double or Nothing

fiance, fitness, goals, lifting, training

Hey yall!

Sorry about such long delays between post. Work has my scheduled many hours these next few weeks. On top of that school has added a bunch of homework and nonsense. I wanted to make sure I had that I had homework done ahead of time with it being thanksgiving next week. T

he picture has nothing to do with anything. I just find it funny.

Yesterday I managed to get a run in with my fiance. It’s been crazy how long it’s been since we’ve worked out together. Sadly, he did not see my best run but oh well. I ran a 5k because I was planning on doing legs. My program has 2 days for leg day. That just seems like nonsense. Oh well. However, I did not make it the gym because my fiance showed up later than planned. Along those lines, I had a lot of homework that needed done

.

Today for my workout I ran another 5k because I really did leg day. It was awful my legs feel like jello and I barely got walked out of the gym. Then of course going up and down stairs was just crazy nonsense. Originally I was not sure I did a whole lot but once I stopped I was like oh crap. It was crazy how once I stopped I just felt it. It was my second leg day for the well, and my last one the soreness lasted forever. No exaggeration at

all.

My other workout for the day was shoulders and abs. I have such weak shoulders. I guess it does make sense you won’t use as much weight for shoulders. Especially after I just worked my legs with a bunch of weight. My shoulders are going to be sore for sure tomorrow. It went well for my abs as well. My program has me do about three different ab workouts. Whatever it is, it seems to work because by the end of the third exercise in feeling th
