Today I worked out again, which is because I had the morning off. I worked out my chest and shoulders today. It went really well. My shoulders were burning from lactic acid at the end, so that was fun to deal with. I could really tell in my shoulders that I had basically taken last week off. I did do planks, which work out my shoulders. My chest lifts I managed to go the same amount of reps and weight, which I found very accomplishing.
Pretty much how 3rd trimester is going
I also got to spend some time with my hubby and my pups outside. We burned a bunch of boxes that we had been gathering because of all the baby stuff we got. While he didn’t talk much (he talks a lot for work), it was still nice to be outside with him. Our pups never left our sides and enjoyed playing fetch. Trooper went down to the pond a few times and enjoyed getting wet then waiting to shake once he got back up to us. My other one was super lovey and enjoyed some snuggles. She did eventually get bored of that and go down to the pond to explore. She didn’t stay down there for long though before coming up and checking on us.
I’m just going to start off by saying we didn’t go to the gym because I tried for a solid 5 minutes to get my husband up. He wasn’t budging. I tried and tried and he kept snoring away. So I was like well we can go in the evening. I despise going in the evening like crazy. He does better then, but I can make sure we go if we do it in the morning. Also we eat dinner really late if we go in the evening. Anyways up dragging his butt in there tomorrow.
However, I did go for a run. The trail splits going into two different directions. One side has some serious hills and the other is more level but curvy. So I decided to go the side with hills today because it’s necessary. In my mind I was thinking I can run the same speed as when I run when it is flat. I’m not sure why I was thinking that because it clearly is not true. I’m sure someday way down the road I can make it. Anyways that put me down a little but I kept trekking along.
So I finished my two tiny miles and was like well let’s go exploring. There is this little nature trail that breaks off and I just figured I would walk down it. I always try to walk a decent amount into a trail I haven’t been on before, so I don’t have any surprises while I’m running. It was a unique little trail that was only about a quarter mile long. At least that’s all the further I went because I got to a railroad bridge and it looked like the trail ended. It was very pretty and hopefully next time I can go further of find another one that goes longer.
Once I finished walking that trail I was like well let’s go another half. I definitely ended up going a mile. However, people were starting to show up and many had bikes. Pretty much every single one that was in a group found it necessary to take up the whole trail. I was like hello I’m right here and have the right to run on the pavement as well. One group almost forced me off the pavement and into the river. Another guy came up behind me but didn’t tell me and I almost punched him. I get violent when startled I guess. Thankfully my hands were busy paying attention to my pup, who gets distracted easily. Anyways I get your in a bike but that doesn’t make you better. I also have a bike but that doesn’t mean I’m always on it. I don’t know if any of yall ever have bicycle issues or not. It just seemed really bad today. But at least I ran an extra mile and enjoyed some sun.
So it wasn’t really 75 degrees it was warmer! Originally it was supposed only be 72 degrees but I’ll take anything at this point. Needless to say it was warm out and gorgeous. I ran 2.5 miles, which seems so small in comparison to what I have to get to. One major factor is I ran in shorts, since it was so much warmer today than normal. Plus there is barely any wind circulation on part of that trail. So under my shorts I wear compression shorts because I have thunder thighs and the chaff bad if I don’t. However, I’m having issues finding ones that don’t roll. I kept stopping to fix them because it bothers me and they make running shorts so short. If anyone has any ideas please share!
I also saw quite a few runners out there and they varied in how “good” of a runner they were. I guess a better way would be by experience. You know those people you see running and just know that they have years of running under their belt. Anyways it was a little intimidating seeing as I was just running along with my pup. She did seem to do much better today in the beginning, so I think she’s learning. It was fun to watch all the runners, even though I was intimated by them. Mainly because I’m not where I used to be, and I know I just need to focus on the now.
My husband and I were going to go to the gym but he decided to stay up and watch the Royals. I don’t care about baseball but I know it’s important to him. However, I asked if we were still going (before I fell asleep waiting on him to return) and he said yes. Needless to say that didn’t happen because he got back late. So today was a rest day from weights I guess. I think I’m going to step up cardio and half an hour of the stair master plus my running. I need to shock my body like crazy.
Today I only ran again because my husband and I were going to go to the gym after he got off work. However, he got home about an hour later than normal, so that plan did not work. He claims he does his workouts best in the afternoon/evening. I think it’s just because he isn’t used to getting up early. Anyways we are both going tomorrow at different times. It kinda sucks that we won’t be together but at least we both go. So I ran my two miles in 19 minutes flat! I realize that’s not super fast but considering I’m still trying to get back to it… After I finished the 2 miles I decided to go to the end, which added another half a mile. I didn’t try for that half mile on time but it was kinda like a cool down. My real cool down was a nice 2 mile walk where I ran up the hills but walked everything else. I’m crazy thankful for my husband who sends me little texts that help keep me going.
Now before my pup and I ever got started with our run, some guy decided he needed to pet her. One major thing about my dog: she is not a fan of males. We did some research and apparently it is the terrior in her. Along with the she is mixed with German Shepherd. Many German Shepherd dogs are really cautious of other people and remain super loyal to the owner. When my husband and I first got her she had never really been socialized (we adopted her), but she had become much better. Not only were we on a bridge she did not really like, but the guy came straight at her with his hand out. I kept trying to back her away but he kept coming at us. Eventually, she raised her hackles at him and he then seemed to become more determined. He did get her but at one point and finally left us alone. It was weird and not appreciated.
I’m sure your wondering why I would say “too hot,” if spring has come. When spring comes, so does amazing weather. I did go run outside today for 2 miles. However, when I left there was a really cold wind that I thought I would need a light long sleeve shirt for. I was incorrect. Very, very incorrect. Apparently because of where the trail is located the wind only touched certain areas on it. So the sun was shining and I was making my body work plus I had long sleeves that are black. Needless to say I got to hot while running but that’s OK. It was a decent run with stops for crazy deer that are out and a dog who had to go. She’s so cute and tries hard to hold it but when you gotta go, you just gotta go. I wore her out since it was warm on the trail and increased the mileage. I did not lift because of work and school, which left me no time if I wanted to get some more reading done. But I can go Saturday before work thankfully.
I did not go to the gym today. It was way too nice outside to stay in. I found a new trail that is longer than 0.75 of a mile. For whatever reason I can find only very short trails. It makes no sense. Anyways this one is at least 4.8 miles, which makes me so happy. I only ran a mile because I had to get to school and I have a lot of crap in my chest. However, it felt great to run outside in a new area.
Yes, that is my dog thinking she gets to ride up front. The crazy thing jumped in there as soon as I opened my door. She quickly climbed to the back as soon as I got in. Also when we got back she went straight for the couch. It was entertaining.
I know, I know I keep saying I’m back and then leaving for weeks on end. However, I’ve got a change in heart. I ran outside today after a crazy long break and I’m really back. It was not my greatest run but it felt amazing. I ran with my puppy who was full of energy. I have to learn to not let her choose the speed because she’ll burn me out quickly. Live and learn I suppose. It was only a 20 minute run but considering how long it has been, since I’ve been consistently running through out the week.
My change in heart and mind has started this week. One thing that helped was I sat down and made goals to achieve. I started with small weekly goals in order to help me achieve my large one.
It started with me feeling like I could never get back to where I was. I had taken so much time off trying to figure out the whole being a newlywed thing that I had given up hope. Every time I tried getting started and would weigh, it seems I gained weight. It all kept hitting me and I just felt like giving up. Thankfully I have an amazing husband who kept pushing me and finally joined in the new challenge with me. I know that I’ll finally get to my ultimate goal because I have a constant workout partner and made goals.
Yesterday I was a slacker and didn’t lift weights. It war gorgeous outside and I couldn’t stay in that long. I also ran outside and it was fantastic!
I haven’t run outside in ages, which also meant I wore my dog out. Let me tell you that’s a challenge to do that puppy is full of energy. Anyways my run went well, even though she pushed me quicker in the beginning than I planned. I also had all the elderly people try to talk to me as I was trying to run. Some had dogs and others didn’t. But all I’m saying is that if your dog is aggressive towards other dogs maybe muzzle it or put the yellow flag on its leash.
Today I did actually work out. It was arms and abs day. My abs hate me but mainly my arms hate me. I used the 20 pound dumbell for pretty much everything. I was nervous to take it off the rack because that’s where the guys always get their dumbells. It’s only 20 pounds and above. Anyways on another great note, I got to run outside again. My pace was more consistent this time. My pup was a little more worn out today. It was so much fun and I’ve missed it immensely. When winter really comes I’m going to be sad but happy because it means I’ll probably be married.
Today my fiance was awesome enough to drive to to my place early, so we could walk/run outside. It has been so long since I’ve been able to go outside because of the humidity and heat. I ran over 6 miles today and enjoyed every sweaty moment.
Yesterday I ended up doing a pretty short run. I only went half an hour because I was having issues. I generally try to push past all pain iI feel because I consider it part of running. All the aches and pains are part of running long distance or even just running in general. However, this pain was consistent and I couldn’t just push it away. My fiance looked at my ankle and saw it was swollen and bruised. I’m still happy with my run because I ran well other than my ankle being annoying. I felt like I shouldn’t push my pain because I end up regretting it. The main reason I regret it is because I then can’t run for months, since I’ve hurt myself to bad. I also figured since I ran over 9 miles the day before it would be smarter to not push it, so I can keep training.
It was a great day to run outside because it was only 75 degrees with hardly any humidity. I ended up having a blast and ran with my pup! She didn’t run the whole time with me because she’s still learning, and I didn’t want to kill her. It was much nicer outside but still on the warmer side. She had a blast just being able to run around. Please excuse the awkward angle of the picture, but I was running at the same time.
She was so funny to watch as she ran around and sniffed everything. The first few times I ran past her I could tell she was upset. The last time I ran past her I could here her whining. I mean I had music blaring and was trying to concentrate, but I could still here that whine and high pitch bark. Needless to say she was happy when I took her to run. She enjoyed herself and pushed me like crazy. I was happy she pushed me to my limits. I’m hoping when it gets cooler she will be able to join me on some of my shorter runs. I did manage to get her tired which is hard.
I was super proud of my fiance because he’s gone he furthest walking as he ever has. Plus he patiently waited for me to finish as I ran past him many times. He pushed himself and keeps trying to be healthier.
